In May 2024 we started a network for fixed-term staff to meet each other, identify shared issues, and organize for improvements.
In our conversations the same themes kept coming up again and again:
- we need a pathway into permanent positions
- contracts that reflect our actual skills and duties
- recognition for our contributions to teaching and research
- greater advance notice of whether our contracts will be renewed
After several months of outreach, the Swansea Postdoc Organizing Network created the Fixed-term Staff Charter on these four pillars.
The Charter summarizes the problems fixed-term workers across the university have shared and the policy changes we need to address them.
By adding your name to the charter, you can show university management that staff stand united behind our fixed-term colleagues.
