Getting more involved

Interested in getting more involved?

As you know, the local UCU is run by volunteers who are all doing their best in their spare time to help improve our working conditions. We need local members to get involved to lend a hand from time to time. Please do think about how you can get involved to “Build the Union” ..and get in touch, we will be glad to talk with you

How can I fit in being involved when I’m always busy?

the best way to support UCU is
to spend a couple of minutes staying informed…

In 15 minutes or less a week you could:

  • Vote in a ballot or election!
  • Make sure your membership details are up to date
    – we rely on this for accurate statistics…
  • Talk to your Departmental representative
  • Refresh your memory on a campaign that’s important to you
  • Check out our website posts and social media – and promote us!
  • Have a look at the national UCU campaigns page
  • Send solidarity to a UCU branch or another union
    that is campaigning or striking
  • Have a conversation with a colleague about the union: share a piece of news, introduce them to what we are doing
  • Ask your branch committee if you can hang up UCU posters or put flyers in mailboxes. The answer is yes!

We appreciate, and depend on, your support to make progress – lets take steps to promote positive change together…

We’d like you to

  • Attend our general meetings, find out about issues,
    and make your voice heard
  • Help your local Departmental Rep when needed
  • Help with campaigns if you can..

You could consider

Becoming a Departmental/Service Rep
…… act as a local liaison, help distribute union literature

Joining a working group
……Helping move a specific campaign forward

Are you interested in Joining the Committee, or Becoming a Caseworker?
